The Best Places to Travel to in February

The festive season is in full swing, with an abundance of fun and excitement it’s the time of year that we (mostly!) all love. But once celebrations have died down and the new year kicks in it can all get a little gloomy.

The first couple of months of the year can be cold and grey with not much going on, which is why we think it’s the perfect time for a break away – give yourself something to look forward to and feel excited about. This is the low-season in the travel world and bargains can be found so you don’t have to break the bank straight after Christmas

We’ve handpicked our favourite places to travel in February.

Bahamas

If you are lucky enough to travel in February and have a few spare pounds to splash then make the Bahamas the top of your list.

The temperatures hover in the mid 20’s which makes for a really pleasant trip, just right for sunbathing and sightseeing without getting too hot and sweaty.

The beaches in the Bahamas are some of the best in the world with Harbour Island boasting ‘pink sand’ that is so incredibly soft and fine.

Life is chilled here and the locals are happy and welcoming. Relax, get some much needed vitamin A and sip on a nice local rum.

Australia

Deep into their summer, if you do travel in February to Australia, do also pack your sunscreen. This beautiful country will be hot and glorious.

With a hugely diverse landscape you could choose to visit one of the vibrant cities like Sydney, Melbourne or Perth, but if you fancy something a little different then why not try out Tasmania. If you love nature, a laid back vibe, good food and drink then you’re going to be in heaven here. With a cooler climate than most of Australia this is their cool-climate wine region and it would be rude not to sample some of the local tipple.
If you travel in February to Tasmania think rolling vineyard countryside, forest and wildlife rich wetland areas such as the Tamar wetlands.

Orlando Florida

Visiting Orlando in Florida is always going to be a fun trip, but can just be so incredibly busy that it can ruin the enjoyment. If you travel in February to Orlando you are pretty much guaranteed low numbers of visitors so less time in queues and more time enjoying what all of the parks have to offer. You’ll also find that hotel prices are considerably cheaper so shouldn’t break your bank quite as much after the big christmas spend.

The choice in Orlando is endless, our favourites include The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and and of course the Walt Disney World Resort. You’re going to score some serious brownie points with your kids if you travel in February to Orlando, Florida – while their peers are freezing it up in school eagerly awaiting spring, your kids will be having the time of their lives believe me.

Costa Rica

Travel in February to Costa Rica and enjoy possibly the best month of the year to see this magical country. There are no peak surcharges like at christmas and new year, the weather is fantastic which means the wildlife you’ll see if likely more diverse, monkey’s much prefer to hang around in the sun and there are other seasonal treats like sea turtles and humpback whales to see if you’re very, very lucky.

If you head to the Pacific side of the island you are pretty much guaranteed good weather which means you can relax on the awesome beaches, walk in the forest and investigate the volcanos.

If you fancy some adventure then jump on one of the many tours that include ziplines, waterfall rappels, guided nature hikes and mountain biking.

Venice

If it’s winter sun that you’re after this isn’t the one for you, but if you are in winter mode and just fancy a change of scenery then you won’t go far wrong with the awe-inspiring city of Venice. There really isn’t a bad time to visit this beautiful place and February brings with it Carnival season.

Carnival is an annual event in Venice which is famous for the elaborate masks that everyone wears. The city bursts into life during carnival with dancing, partying and masked people posing; travel in February to Venice and you will be met with more than your average city break. If hustle and bustle, parties and liveliness is what you fancy getting into this coming February then book your fight now.

Norway

Norway is about as wintery as it gets, if you’re sick of the sight of grey skies and rain and want an extremely cold, but extremely beautiful winter trip then travel in February to Norway. Norwegians have a wonderful mindset, to them winter is not to be endured but to be enjoyed.

You’ll find plenty of chances to ski if that’s your thing, reindeer pulling sleighs and if you really are lucky you may get to the see the northern lights which would surely cheer up even the most dreary February.

If you’ve ever dreamed of waking up to proper snow then travel in February to Norway and you will be delighted, the snow is so incredibly white and fluffy it almost sparkles. The festive season also seems to stretch on for longer in Norway, because days can be cold and dark for a long while the residents put a lot of effort into their homes, hotel, restaurants and shops to make them super cosy and inviting.

So this February, forget the winter blues lingering on and book yourself a trip, whatever you tastes and preferences there is a beautiful part of the world just waiting for you.
