This is a magnificent itinerary, France in the raw, against a backdrop of wonderful scenery. Stay in small, simple but comfortable hotels and, of course, each day, your luggage is moved for you.

Day 1: ARRIVE LE ROZIER

Arrival at Le Rozier at the confluence of the Tarn and the Jonte, dominated by the imposing Rocher de Capluc at the foot of the escarpment of the great Causses of Sauveterre, of Causse Noir and of Causse Méjean. Dinner and overnight.

 

 

Day 2 : Le Rozier – Hyelzas 17.8 Km, 6 h walk : + 916 m: – 359m

For this first hike, from the Rozier, you take a rather steep path that gradually leads to a panoramic view of the gorge . The scenery is beautiful, do not hesitate to stop to take the time to watch this beautiful spectacular nature before continuing to Hyelzas on the Causse.  Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 3 : Hyelzas – Nivoliers : 22.5 Km, 6 à 7 h walk : + 469 m: – 475m

Walk through the Causse, a surprising landscape encircled by the gorges in the ancient lands of Gévaudan, this desert and rough landscape is often compared to the steppes of Mongolia, but this arid environment is the result of centuries of shepherds herding their flocks and spaces shaped by the wind.  Dinner and overnight St Enimie

 

Day 4 : Nivoliers – Sainte Enimie : 21.5 Km, 5 à 6 hours walk : + 333 m: – 814m

The first half of the day is spent walking on the Causse before joining the route to Ste Enimie with 2 options to choose from. Superb panorama overlooking the gorges and the medieval village of Ste Enimie.  Dinner and overnight St Enimie.

 

Day 5 : Sainte Enimie – La Malène  13.5 Km, 4 h de marche. D+ 355 m -380m

Today’s walk is a short one from St Enimie to La Malène along balcony paths high above the river Tarn with a nice view on the cliffs. Go through the village of St Chely du Tarn where you can eat. Continue to the hamlet of Hauterives before joining La Malène, a lovely village on the banks of the Tarn. You can enjoy the banks of the Tarn or take a journey on the river down the Tarn with the boatmen of La Malène.  Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 6 : La Malène – Le Rozier.

Last stop along the Tarn as the fast flowing river passes under enormous rocks which strew the banks and the bed of the river. Enjoy the vies from the  “Pas de soucy” before reaching the village Les Vignes (possibility of eating) and continue on to Le Rozier for the final evening. Dinner and overnight Le Rozier

 

Day 7 : Departure after breakfast.

 

 

Arrival and departure by train: nearest station is MILLAU. You then need to take a taxi to LE ROZIER
