Hiking in Armenia is wonderful with diverse and spectacular mountainous landscapes, terrains and climate, rich fauna and flora and remarkable cultural heritage, all of which together provide excellent opportunities for walking and cycling. All our tourist routes are designed to take the environment into consideration among visitors and among local communities and people alike.
Armenia became the first Christian country more than 1,700 years ago and although it’s not the first country that springs to mind for travelling it actually has a rich history and many examples of fine architecture. Often described as a warm and friendly place for tourists, Armenia has a wonderful climate with hot and sunny summers followed by very cold winters and lots of snow. This just adds to its beautiful surroundings and landscapes. The country has been home to a predominant manufacturing economy, producing textiles and supplying tools but larger companies such as Intel and other technology firms have looked to invest in research centres and “bases” within Armenia. One of the most popular attractions in Armenia is the area of Yerevan where there are many monasteries and also the Genocide Museum, a moving tribute to those who died in the 1915 Armenian Genocide which was carried out by the Turkish government. Regardless of whether you are going to hike in Armenia or opt for self-guided walking, Armenia is a friendly and welcoming location perfect for a quiet, relaxing walking holiday.
