ITINERARY | HIGHLIGHTS | WEATHER | ACCOMMODATION and ADDITIONAL INFOGermany 2012 - The Romantic Road
A week's walking in Germany in the heart of Franconia.
Others may have purloined the epithet 'Romantic Road', but the true original is here, in the heart of Germany. The Romantic Road, a region of peaceful valleys, rolling countryside and unspoilt medieval towns, lies at the heart of Central Franconia, between the
rivers Main and Danube. The inspiration for generations of poets and musicians, Heinrich Heine and J.S. Bach among them, the area is ideal for walking and for discovering the essential German way of life.
Our walks take you on a journey through history, evoking the great periods of the free imperial cities such as Rothenburg and Dinkelsbuhl, which look today much as they did in their great trading days. In between are the forests, meadows, and hills, which give the whole area its gentle character, best discovered and appreciated on foot.
