THE RHINE - A SHORT BREAK
The Mittelrhein is justly famous for its unique landscapes, picturesque little towns, castles and steep vine-clad slopes. The new hiking routes – Rheinburgenweg and Rheinsteig (declared the most beautiful German hiking route in 2006) - offer a great opportunity to enjoy this beautiful area as you walk through meadow, vineyard and forest, whilst the river is never far away. The route offers unique views over the Rhine Valley including the majestic Loreley Rock. Your base is the town of Bacharach, the centre of the romantic Rhine. As early as the Middle Ages the little town was famous for its wine, and still is.
