Algarve
Cork Oaks to Orange Groves 2008
Villages nestling between hills. Walls of whitewashed stone flashing in the sun. The lush foliage of almond, fig, carob and pomegranate trees, the rust coloured trunks of the stripped cork trees and the thousands of flowers that grow wild every spring, this is the true heart of the Algarve. This four centre walking holiday starts in historic town of Estoi with its Roman ruins and takes you through totally unspoilt countryside where there are new vistas around every corner to the village of Alte, considered by many as the village most typical of the Algarve. More magnificent countryside before continuing your walk westwards through orange and citrus groves to the historical town of Silves, once the Moorish capital of the Algarve.
