ITINERARY

Day 1: You will be picked up from Sunshine Coast Airport and transferred to your beautiful accommodation at Treetops, nestling in rainforest in the coastal hinterland region of Montville. A leisurely day, with a stopover on the way to visit the home of the ‘Crocodile Hunter’, Steve Irwin, at Australia Zoo – an excellent introduction to Australia’s unique wildlife. An excellent dinner and warm hospitality will finish off a relaxing first day.

Overnight: Treetops (http://www.treehouses.com.au/) Dinner (D)

Day 2: A delicious breakfast in the tranquil surrounds of beautiful rainforest.  Then we will head off on a walk through the tracks of Kondalilla National Park, meandering through lush rainforest, with an 80 metre waterfall and natural rock pool. After a picnic lunch we will head home. An optional extra is available to have a much deserved massage or beauty treatment as you unwind after a fantastic day’s walking.  Or you could just relax with a cool drink, read a book or soak in a spa.

Overnight: Treetops. BLD. Walking Distance 11km

Day 3: Today we head off for another day of walking through a beautiful coastal track near the world renowned beach town of Noosa. The coastline near Noosa is known to be one of the most beautiful in Australia. You might even see koalas in the trees overlooking the beach. We stop for lunch in a restaurant looking directly onto the stunning Laguna Bay. Following lunch we then take a vehicle ferry across the Noosa River to the Noosa North Shore Resort, which will be your resting place for the next two nights.

Overnight: Noosa North Shore Resort (http://www.noosanorthshore.com.au/) . BLD. Walk Distance: 7km

Day 4: The day begins with breakfast on the deck of the resort, where you can observe the beautiful rainbow lorikeets and wild kangaroos grazing nearby. We will then take you in a four wheel drive vehicle on the sands of the stunning 40 mile beach, to the head of the walking trail. Our walk takes us from the beach over the sand dune system to a spectacular lookout with 360 degree views, from the Pacific Ocean in the East, to the pristine hinterland in the West. Continuing our walk down the other side of the dunes, we reach the Noosa River, where we will be collected by boat for a cruise through the magnificent ‘everglades - river of mirrors’, back to our accommodation.

Overnight: Noosa North Shore Resort. BLD. Walk Distance: 10km

Day 5: Today we will head north to Rainbow Beach, a charming little beach town famous for its coloured sands (up to 70 different colours). From here we walk through an ever changing landscape, from open eucalyptus forest, through to lush rainforest.  Finish at beautiful Poona Lake, a freshwater lake perched high up in the sand dune system, set amongst dense vegetation, with a pure white sandy beach. Lunch in the peace and tranquility of the rainforest, which perhaps uniquely, grows in pure sand. In the afternoon, we catch a ferry to the wilderness of Fraser Island (voted the 5th sexiest island in the world by Forbes Magazine!). Dinner and accommodation is at King Fisher Bay Resort, a four star environmentally sensitive resort.

Overnight: Kingfisher Bay Resort (http://www.kingfisherbay.com/) BLD. Walk Distance: 12km

Day 6: You awake to the sounds of kookaburras and cockatoos. After breakfast, begin an amazing walk through the landscape of Fraser Island, the world’s largest sand island.  This truly unforgettable walk will take you along a creek bed where the water is so clear, it appears invisible. Continue through the rainforest, where you will see giant Satinay trees rising 50 metres above the sand. Come to the turquoise water and brilliant white sands of Lake McKenzie – a true natural wonder. Time for a refreshing swim. After a leisurely lunch, take off for a flight from 75 mile beach, which acts as the airstrip. You will gain a whole new appreciation of this region from the air as you fly to Maroochydore for your final night’s accommodation.  Overnight: Twin Waters Resort ( www.twinwatersresort.com.au ) BLD. Walk Distance: 11km

Day 7: This morning will be at your leisure with opportunity for last minute shopping, before you are transferred to the Sunshine Coast Airport for your departure or onward journey.
